Code of Conduct

The 55th Light Foot is built on voluntary participation, personal responsibility, and a shared commitment to preparedness, lawful conduct, and community support. Members are encouraged to contribute according to their skills, experience, interests, and availability while continuing to learn alongside others who value readiness, discipline, and service.
Our Code of Conduct establishes clear expectations for safe, respectful, and responsible participation and is defined in the 55th’s Standards and Principles Guide. Members are expected to follow all safety rules, maintain appropriate personal equipment, handle firearms lawfully and responsibly, participate in training when possible, and conduct themselves in a manner that reflects well on the organization and the broader community.

Participation is not defined by a single role or level of experience. Whether attending meetings, joining training events, supporting work details, maintaining equipment, or building practical skills over time, each member contributes to the strength and readiness of the group. Together, these standards help turn individual preparedness into collective capability.
The 55th Light Foot rejects criminal violence, terrorism, intimidation, unauthorized representation, or any conduct that threatens the public, the community, or the constitutional republic. Concerns involving safety, ethics, or conduct are addressed privately and fairly by leadership, with the goal of maintaining a trustworthy, disciplined, and service-minded organization.
