A Message from the Commanding Officer

Welcome to the 55th Lightfoot Battalion

Whether you are visiting to learn more about our organization, exploring preparedness for the first time, or considering becoming involved, I appreciate your interest in what we are building together.

The 55th Light Foot Battalion exists to encourage responsible citizens to develop the knowledge, skills, and character necessary to serve their families, neighbors, and communities during times of need. Preparedness is not measured by equipment alone. It is built through education, training, sound judgment, and a willingness to help others when circumstances demand it.

Our organization is founded on constitutional principles, personal responsibility, and respect for the rule of law. We are committed to maintaining a professional culture grounded in integrity, accountability, and mutual respect. Every member is expected to continually develop their abilities while contributing positively to the team and the communities we serve.

Training remains at the heart of everything we do. Through our Four Core Pillars, Communications, Medical Preparedness, Sustainment, and Field Operations—we develop practical capabilities that strengthen individual readiness and improve our ability to work effectively together. These skills are not pursued for their own sake, but to better prepare ourselves to respond responsibly during emergencies, disasters, and unforeseen challenges.

Preparedness is a shared responsibility, and effective leadership is built through service rather than authority alone. The 55th Light Foot Battalion is led by a team of elected and appointed officers who serve on a voluntary basis. Together, they mentor members, coordinate training, and support the organization’s mission while strengthening the Four Core Pillars of Communications, Medical Preparedness, Sustainment, and Field Operations. Committed to professionalism, accountability, and continuous learning, the leadership team helps foster a culture of readiness and responsible community service throughout the battalion.
